The difference between going home a winner or a loser can be the result of simply choosing the wrong table. Though it is difficult there are ways to pick out online tables more suited for beginners though unfortunately the players don’t wear signs that say “I’m a fish” or “I’m a shark”.
Because it allows for the best chance of success while playing a straightforward game, the best kind of table for a beginner player is a loose passive table. Generally there is not a lot of aggressive betting, but many players will be seeing the flop. The end result will be larger pots and more bad beats overall.
You should check out three things when choosing a table. The percent of the players that see the flop is the first. Most poker rooms that you will find online will give you this statistic, you will just need to know where to look for it. A high percentage is what you want. Anything over 35% should be concidered high. This is thought by most people to be a loose table. When deciding what table to sit down at, looking at average pot size should be the second thing you take into consideration. To be appealing, this should generally be at least 12 times the small blind. Third on the list of things to look for would be to identify the players you know are weak. Notes taken on your opponents (and you should)If you’re lucky, you’ll spot a few of your known weak players seated at the same table. I would suggest sitting down if they do.
